In recent days, South Africans on social media users have shifted their support from Chidimma Adetshina to Ufa, known as Miss Kwara.

For many, this is based on her literally standing out from the crowd as a plus-size model and embracing her darker shade of skin.

The support has seen Ufa receive over 3000 votes from South Africans, who hope to fast-track her to the Top 10 of the pageant. The results will be revealed at the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant in Lagos this weekend.

In Instagram Stories this week, Miss Kwara thanked her supporters for their encouragement and kind words.

She posted: “Y’all, I’m South African now. I’m so humbled by the level of support.

Miss Kwara added that her foreign fans had given her South African names like “Nomathemba, Nyiko, and Mbali.”

She jokingly added: “Maybe I’ll move to SA.”

Currently, Ufa has received over 10 000 votes, or 11 % of votes in the competition.

Chidimma has over 15 000 or 17% of the votes.

Speaking to Her Network Online, Miss Kwara claimed that she was hoping to use her platform to inspire other women to be body positive.

She said: “I’m here to champion what matters, empower others, and create a ripple effect of positive change beyond the pageant and into the community.

TMZ reports that Pamela Anderson did not sit for an interview with the filmmakers despite an offer to participate in the Baywatch documentary.

It is believed Anderson is in a different chapter of her life and has two films in the pipeline namely, The Last Showgirl and The Naked Gun.

The plus-sized model, Ufa Dania who is representing the Kwara State in Western Nigeria is on 7778 votes at the time of publishing this article.

This is an improvement from the 4570 votes she had on Tuesday, 27 August.

Miss Kwara recently revealed to France 24 that she’s the first plus-sized woman to take part in the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant.

The 25-year-old adds that she also suffered online harassment because she’s a plus-sized model.

LETSILE TEBOGO IS CATTLE FARMER

The Olympic medalist, Tebogo Letsile trended on X on Tuesday, 20 August when he told SABC’s broadcaster, Thomas Mlambo that he’s a cattle farmer.

He also opened up about his aspirations to shape his investment portfolio through farming.

He says in the viral video: “I was in the farm this morning and I spent the night over there. Basically, in the farm what we do is. I mostly have cattle, and I need to have a solid plan on what I am going to do to increase the number of cattle.”

“Personally, I think I will go with the investment for me. I think athletics is not a long-term career so I need to have different opportunities and see how we could channel our money.”

Botswana’s publication, Mmegi reports that Letsile Tebogo became an instant millionaire from just one race thanks to retailer, Choppies.

It is reported that the athlete will receive P2.500 (R3340) worth of groceries for 12 months and P1 million (R1.3 million) cash incentive from Choppies Botswana. He also receives a high-cost house from Botswana’s Ministry of Youth, Sport, Gender and Culture (MYSC).

The Botswana National Sport Commission (BNSC) communications manager, Anderson Nlisana also told Mmegi Sport that for winning the Olympic gold, Tebogo will receive P250.000 (R334 000).

Tebogo reportedly also won an additional P25 000 (R33 400) for top 8 finish in 100m race etc.

Get Right hitmaker Jennifer Lopez has filed for divorce from actor Ben Affleck on Tuesday 20 August, in the Los Angeles County Superior Court, according to court documents seen by BBC. This comes after two years of marriage.

According to People, the Monster-in-law star listed 26 April as the date of separation. Sources told TMZ that there was no pre-nuptial agreement. A source also told People that Jennifer tried her best to make it work

“She tried really hard to make things work, and is heartbroken,” said the source.

The source added that the kids are their top priority. The pair have a blended family. Ben has three children with ex-wife Jennifer Garner – Violet (18), Seraphina (15), and Samuel (12). Jennifer has 16-year-old twins Max and Emme with ex-husband Marc Anthony.

“The kids are a top priority, as they always have been,” the source continued.

Swift has not yet publicly thrown her weight behind any presidential candidate in the November 5 election, but she backed President Joe Biden in 2020 and has previously been critical of Trump.

‘Swifties’

On Sunday, Trump shared screenshots of posts with manipulated images – including some that an expert said appeared to be AI-generated – suggesting that the pop star and her fans, popularly known as Swifties, support his campaign.

In a post on his social media site Truth Social, which included an image of Swift clad in an Uncle Sam outfit and instructing her fans to vote for Donald Trump, the former president wrote: “I accept!”

That image, in the style of a poster, was either “AI-generated or just classically manipulated,” Hany Farid, a digital forensics expert at the University of California, Berkeley, told AFP.

The post also includes photos of women wearing shirts with the slogan “Swifties for Trump,” some of which Farid said had the “tell-tale signs of being AI-generated.”

What makes the mash-up “particularly devious” is its combination of real and fake imagery, with at least one photo of a woman wearing such a shirt looking legitimate, Farid said.

No comment from Taylor Swift

There was no immediate comment from Swift about the post by Trump, who separately shared on Truth Social a video of a supporter voicing the dubious claim that “Swifties were rallying for Trump.”

“You’re going to let this go uncorrected?” A.J. Delgado, a former advisor to the Trump campaign in 2016, wrote in a post on the platform X that was addressed to the singer’s publicist.

Donald Trump’s post also drew online mockery and scorn from the singer’s fans, some of whom called on her to take legal action against the former president.

Swift’s massive popularity and sway over her fans could make her support valuable in the upcoming US presidential election.

Both Republicans and Democrats have long wanted her support, but the megastar has been largely reticent about her political leanings.

Authorities have arrested five individuals in connection with the tragic passing of the Friends star, a year after they found him dead at his Los Angeles home.

ARRESTS MADE IN CONNECTION WITH MATTHEW PERRY’S PASSING

Among those charged are Perry’s personal assistant and two doctors, according to The Guardian.

Prosecutors allege that they played a key role in the events leading to his untimely demise.

Matthew Perry, who was just 54 when he died, had long been open about his struggles with addiction.

MATTHEW PERRY AND KETAMINE INFUSION THERAPY

At the time of his death, he was undergoing ketamine infusion therapy, a treatment commonly used for severe depression and anxiety.

The situation took a dark turn when authorities revealed that the levels of ketamine in his system were alarmingly high.

MATTHEW PERRY’S DOCTORS GET IMPLICATED

It was far beyond what would be expected from standard therapeutic use.

According to US attorney Martin Estrada, the two doctors who treated Perry were not acting in his best interests, according to AP News.

Instead, they allegedly exploited his vulnerabilities to line their pockets. Estrada stated, “These individuals knew what they were doing was wrong.”

CRIMINAL NETWORK INVOLVED IN THE PASSING OF MATTHEW PERRY

“They knew what they were doing was risking great danger to Mr Perry, but they did it anyway.

In the end, these defendants were more interested in profiting off Mr Perry than caring for his wellbeing.”

The two doctors, identified as Salvador Plasencia, known as ‘Dr P’, and Mark Chavez, are at the centre of a criminal network.

Authorities say that this network was responsible for supplying large quantities of ketamine to Perry, according to CNN.

OTHER ARRESTS IN CONNECTION WITH MATTHEW PERRY’S PASSING

Authorities have also charged Perry’s personal assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, Jasveen Sangha, dubbed the ‘Ketamine Queen’, and Erik Fleming, an acquaintance of Perry.

Prosecutors allege that this group conspired to procure thousands of dollars worth of ketamine,. They then then administered it to Perry.

Court documents reveal a disturbing series of text messages between Plasencia and Chavez, in which Plasencia coldly refers to Perry as a “moron.”

CONSPIRACY TO DISTRIBUTE IN CONNECTION TO MATTHEW PERRY

They then speculate about how much money they could extract from him.

“I wonder how much this moron will pay,” Plasencia allegedly wrote. “Let’s find out.”

The charges against the group are severe.

They include conspiracy to distribute ketamine, distribution of ketamine resulting in death, and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

MATTHEW PERRY’S PASSING

Authorities also accuse Sangha and Plasencia of altering and falsifying records related to the federal investigation.

Authorities found Perry dead in a hot tub at his home in October 2023.

The Los Angeles medical examiner’s office determined that he died from the acute effects of ketamine.

The report listed drowning, coronary artery disease, and the presence of buprenorphine, a medication used to treat opioid use disorder, as contributing factors.

The autopsy report highlighted the extremely high levels of ketamine in Perry’s system, noting that they were comparable to those used during general anaesthesia.

“At the high levels of ketamine found in his postmortem blood specimens, the main lethal effects would be from both cardiovascular overstimulation and respiratory depression,” the report stated.

The 39-year-old television star took to Instagram to share the terrifying details of the incident.
