FORMER ORLANDO PIRATES STAR THANDANI NTSHUMAYELO’S CAREER

He started his youth career with Black Swallows. However, he later switched the floor to SuperSport United in 2005.

In 2009, Thandani Ntshumayelo joined the SuperSport United senior team. After two seasons, the midfielder joined Orlando Pirates in 2012.

He was part of the star-studded squad of Orlando Pirates that had a host of stars, including Oupa Manyisa, Bennie McCarthy, Andile Jali, Happy Jele and the late Senzo Meyiwa.

At the time, he was 23 years old at the time and was reportedly earning R275 000 per month, according to Transfer Markt.

FOOTBALL BAN

After making over 70 appearances in January 2016, Thandani Ntshumayelo tested positive for a banned substance and was handed a four-year ban from football.

Reports have it that traces of cocaine were found in his system. Against the ban, Thandani Ntshumayelo lost nearly everything he held dearly. The friends. The money. The adulation. The game.

“Honestly, I felt so alone at the time. I had lost people I thought were my friends. I even lost hope of ever playing again,” said the star during a 2018 interview.

He suffered from severe depression and almost took his life. However, on appeal, the ban was reduced to two years.

Thandani Ntshumayelo returned to football in 2019. However, it was never the same, and this was one of the reasons why he retired early.

In 2023, Thandani Ntshumayelo retired from football. During one of his interviews, the star said, “I rushed going back [to football], that’s why maybe something didn’t go well.

BIBO: ‘I WENT BACK TO SCHOOL’

However, months after his retirement, the rumour mill had it that he was totally unrecognisable, leaving many trying to connect the dots about his whereabouts and what he has been up to.

Little is known about his occupation. Thandani Ntshumayelo recently revealed that he is now pursuing law.

Thandani Ntshumayelo is pursuing a Higher Certificate in Law at the University of South Africa (UNISA).

Speaking to Far Post two months ago he said, “I went back to school, I’m studying again, I’m doing LLB High qualification. I’m studying Law now. I’m studying at Unisa, started this year.”

After hanging his boots, former Orlando Pirates star Thandani ‘Bibo’ Ntshumayelo returned to school and is currently studying law.

Mariah Carey speaks out after losing mom and sister on same day https://www.thesouthafrican.com/lifestyle/celeb-news/local-celebs/mariah-carey-speaks-out-losing-mom-sister-same-day-patricia-alison/ Thu, 29 Aug 2024 06:29:04 +0000 https://www.thesouthafrican.com/?p=2165426 American singer Mariah Carey spoke out after she lost her mother, Patricia and sister Alison on the same day over the past weekend.

MARIAH CAREY LOSES MOM AND SISTER ON THE SAME DAY

Touch My Body hitmaker Mariah Carey, who has a pair of twins with TV host Nick Cannon, lost both her mom and sister on the same day over the past weekend. Mariah told People that she is heartbroken after losing both her mother, Patricia and sister Alison on the same day.

“My heart is broken that I’ve lost my mother this past weekend. Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day,” the Grammy-winning singer, 55, said in an exclusive statement to People.

She went on to say that she felt blessed to spend the last week with her mother before she had passed away.

“I feel blessed that I was able to spend the last week with my mom before she passed,” she continued.

“I appreciate everyone’s love and support and respect for my privacy during this impossible time,” she added.

The cause of death of both Mariah’s mom and sister have not yet been revealed.

THE SINGER, HER MOM AND SIBLINGS

Mariah had a complex relationship with her mom and sister. Patricia was married to Alfred Roy Carey, and together they had three children – Alison, Mariah and Morgan. The pair later divorced when Mariah was three years old.

“Our relationship is a prickly rope of pride, pain, shame, gratitude, jealousy, admiration and disappointment. A complicated love tethers my heart to my mother’s,” she wrote in her memoir The Meaning of Mariah Carey, published in 2020.

“Like many aspects of my life, my journey with my mother has been full of contradictions and competing realities. It’s never been only black-and-white — it’s been a whole rainbow of emotions,” she wrote.

However, Mariah still maintained a relationship with her mother, who she expressed, did her best. While she also stated that it was “emotionally and physically safer for me not to have any contact” with both siblings, Alison and Morgan.

‘I’m willing to help him’: Mandla N on Carlo Radebe’s struggles https://www.thesouthafrican.com/lifestyle/celeb-news/local-celebs/im-willing-to-help-him-mandla-n-on-carlo-radebes-struggles/ Wed, 28 Aug 2024 15:45:07 +0000 https://www.thesouthafrican.com/?p=2165960 Black Brain Pictures executive director Mandla Ngcongwane, affectionately known as Mandla N, has revealed that he is willing to help troubled actor Carlo Radebe after he fell on tough times.

With an illustrious career spanning years, Carlo Radebe is arguably one of the best actors to come from South Africa.

MANDLA N: ‘I’M WILLING TO HELP HIM’

The seasoned actor is best known for his on-screen character of Duke Ngcobo on the e.tv series Backstage.

Carlo Radebe has starred in several productions, including iNumber Number and How To Steal 2-Million.

However, the actor hasn’t starred in any production in the last three years and has been struggling to make ends meet.

Earlier this year, he hogged headlines when it was reported that he needed assistance to make ends meet.

Against the plea, he reportedly received donations, but the actor recently revealed that some of the promises which were made never materialised.

Earlier this month, Carlo Radebe took to his Facebook page to plead with good Samaritans to assist him as he struggled to make ends meet.

Against the backdrop of his second plea, Mandla N, who has worked with the celebrated actor, made it known that he wanted to have him on his team.

Mandla N is best known for being the brains behind some of the biggest productions in South Africa and has been credited for thrusting a host of now-seasoned actors into the limelight.

Speaking to TimesLive, Black Brain Pictures executive director said, “I’m willing to help him. We deal with audition methods when gathering our casts. I need to engage with the channels to secure something solid.

“He is a great actor, and his name speaks for itself. My hands are tied as the channel must give the green light.”

CARLO RADEBE OPENS UP ABOUT HIS STRUGGLES

The troubled actor was a recent guest on Podcast and Chill with MacG

Speaking about his struggles, he said, “After 19 years, I have found myself alone. When you lose your job, you lose your car and your apartment, and you turn around and see how many friends you have.”

Carlo Radebe added, “I don’t blame people. It’s survival of the fittest out there. People don’t want that energy.”

Carlo Radebe also opened up about how he failed to network with others during the peak of his career.

“I never networked myself, and this is before social media… This is word to the wise: you cannot be marooned on an island thinking your lucky stars are going to be sparkling… you have to network,” he said.

Livid Kelly Khumalo goes on rant about CemAir [video] https://www.thesouthafrican.com/lifestyle/celeb-news/local-celebs/kelly-khumalo-senzo-meyiwa-murder-trial-cemair-watch/ Wed, 28 Aug 2024 13:38:13 +0000 https://www.thesouthafrican.com/?p=2165897 CemAir has come under fire again after singer Kelly Khumalo accused the airline of being a “sh*tty service.”

The performer is one of multiple South African artists who have accused their company of being unprofessional.

KELLY KHUMALO DRAGS CEMAIR IN VIRAL VIDEO

In a video rant posted on social media, Kelly Khumalo appeared flustered as she explained that her CemAir flights had been cancelled without her knowledge.

Speaking from a helpdesk likely at an airport terminal, the singer said: “This is what we have to deal with…sh*t service from CemAir. We missed our flight when we were there. It’s not on screens; they don’t even bother to send smses [to warn us]

She added: “South Africa must never support this sh*tty airline.”

Unfortunately, many South Africans did not have much sympathy for Kelly, who is widely rumoured to be behind the death of soccer star Senzo Meyiwa.

@Miz_Ruraltarain: “Kelly We support Senzo”

@inexist_33: “Surely, when you book a flight, you know what time it’s leaving.”

@BokamosoMc: “Clearly, CemAir is on Senzo Meyiwa’s side, and we stand with them.”

MORE CELBRITY RUN-INS

Kelly Khumalo is not the first celebrity to publicly criticise CemAir.

In March, the airlines made headlines after their brush with reality TV star Shamiso Mosaka. In a viral video, Shamiso accused the airline of racial profiling and kicking her off a flight after she said the F-word.

CemAir clapped back at the star in a statement, labelling her “unruly and abusive.”

In the aftermath, Somizi clapped back at CemAir’s statement.

In an Instagram Story, the media personality defended Shamiso. He posted: “Piece of s**t airline. Even with evidence, you are still defending racism”.

Fellow TV personality Bridget Masinga tweeted: “What the hell did I just watch? CemAir,  you should be ashamed of the discrimination and conduct of your crew assisted by SAPS inflicted on Shamiso. That young lady is owed a sincere public apology for the very public humiliation.”

Ntsiki Mazwai also had her say. She tweeted: “How did Shamiso keep her cool? What a violent experience…..the air hostess should catch charges”.

In 2022, CemAir came under fire for allegedly discriminating against disabled music artist DJ Kabila.

In a video, Kabila accused CemAir of being the first airline to charge him additionally for using a passenger-aid unit (PAU), a device that allows wheelchairs to board airplanes.

His video was retweeted by DJ Black Coffee, who himself has a disabled hand.

He tweeted of the incident: “This can’t be it.”

WATCH: Gogo Skhotheni denies Mpumelelo Mseleku dating rumours https://www.thesouthafrican.com/lifestyle/celeb-news/local-celebs/gogo-skhotheni-denies-mpumelelo-mseleku-dating-rumours/ Wed, 28 Aug 2024 13:19:06 +0000 https://www.thesouthafrican.com/?p=2165786 Reality TV star and DJ Gogo Skhotheni is making headlines after she opened up about her alleged affair with Mpumelelo Mseleku.

The reality star has been topping trends after singer Queen Lolly, Mpumelelo Mseleku’s ex-girlfriend and Skotheni’s former friend, claimed that the DJ was having an affair with Mseleku while she was still married to her ex-husband.

GOGO SKHOTHENI DENIES MPUMELELO MSELEKU DATING RUMOURS

Queen Lolly made the damning allegations while speaking on De Original Careless Podcast.

She has it that a friend who works with Gogo Skhotheni told her of the alleged affair that has since thrust the reality star into top trends.

“She said that at one of her events, they were all over each other while her husband, Monde Shange, was there.”

Against the trends, Gogo Skhotheni has since shared her side of the story. The reality star downplayed the allegations and made it known that she never had any ‘sexual encounter’ with Mseleku.

She downplayed the news in a now-viral clip. Gogo Skhotheni said, “I’ve never had any sexual encounter with Mpumelelo Mseleku. I swear on my ancestors’ lives. I met him when he came to my podcast.

“In my marriage, we never fought because of a third person. Just because we are separated does not mean it’s because of a third party.”

No doubt this is not the first time the star has hogged headlines with her dramatic love life. A few weeks ago, Gogo Skhotheni hogged headlines when she accused her husband, Monde Shange, of abuse.

She dropped the damning allegations on social media. However, Mzansi was also puzzled to learn that she once married two husbands.

NASTY FALLOUT

Surprisingly, Queen Lolly and Gogo Skhotheni used to be friends before their nasty fallout.

Queen Lolly has it that her then-friend Gogo Skhotheni allegedly betrayed her and used her name to boost her podcast.

“My friendship with Gogo Skhotheni was good until I realised she was not a friend, or rather, she did not consider me as her friend,” said Queen Lolly.

“When she had just started her podcast, she asked me to be a guest, and I agreed, but she kept making excuses almost three times,” she added.

However, she later revealed that she received a message on her Instagram from Gogo Maweni, who informed her that Skhotheni was interviewing her ex-boyfriend, Mpumelelo Mseleku, after Gogo Skhotheni ghosted her.

‘Mommy Club: Sugar and Spice’ – Q&A with Davina Knowles https://www.thesouthafrican.com/lifestyle/celeb-news/local-celebs/mommy-club-sugar-and-spice-davina-knowles/ Wed, 28 Aug 2024 11:54:47 +0000 https://www.thesouthafrican.com/?p=2165341 Davina Knowles answered some questions surrounding new reality series The Mommy Club: Sugar and Spice.

‘THE MOMMY CLUB: SUGAR AND SPICE’

Showmax’s The Mommy Club: Sugar and Spice stars nine affluent Indian mothers from Durban, and their colourful extended families who assist them in running their empires and raising their heirs.

So, who are the mommies?

  • Abigail Nepaul (41)
  • Asharia Parsad (27)
  • Christina Devraj (26)
  • Davina Knowles (43)
  • Kim Jones (33)
  • Lenore Goss-Matjie (45)
  • Neetasha Singh Bugwandin (36)
  • Twins Losh and Resh Naidoo (45)

Take a look at the moms here. Davina teased a little more about the show, which is on the third episode so far, in a Q&A session.

Q&A WITH DAVINA

Which of the ladies do you gravitate towards the most?

Truth is, I gravitated towards Lenore and Abigail. Lenore because we actually both grew up in the same area as children, and our memories drew us to one another. We also have the same sense of humour and a sturdy moral compass. We immediately clicked and I felt like we knew each other our whole lives within a few days.

Abi and I have kids around the same age and we also have similar parenting styles and she is an academic so I gravitated towards her because we have the same interests and our days are eerily similar. Also, she enjoys having a laugh and is so reasonable and level-headed. I can relate to Abi so I loved being in her company.

How was your first day filming?

It was daunting, I didn’t know what to expect and I was insanely nervous. My kids were with me and were excited little Energizer bunnies. So mom-mode was on in full swing so I honestly just went with the flow like a robot, i took instructions and tried to ignore the cameras and be natural, but I struggled that first day.

Seeing, meeting and talking to the other moms was lovely but also I felt I didn’t fit in, so that made me feel awkward the entire first shoot. I was stressed because I still had my business to run, work to do, and I had to get home and prepare dinner and sort out homework. That first shoot taught me a lot about the ins and outs of filming a single scene.

BEHIND-THE-SCENES

Which of the ladies are different on- and off-camera and how are they different?

Honestly every lady on the show is genuinely themselves on camera. As you see them on the screen is how they are off camera.

What’s the biggest lesson you learned about yourself while filming?

I was very ill throughout filming, so I learnt that I can persevere and do what needs to done no matter how impossible it may seem. Filming was not easy because our real lives continued as normal with this additional aspect.

I learned that I can jump over every hurdle and juggle all the daily tasks thrown at me if I just put my mind to it. I learned never to give up no matter how uncomfortable a situation may be and to enjoy every moment of an unbelievable opportunity.

How do people treat you now that you’re on a TV show?

The weirdest thing is that people recognise me and are excited to see me and treat me like someone whose achievements are recognised. Some people just stare at me like they are trying to place where they know me from, this is hilarious and when they realise who I am a few people come up and say the nicest things and bombard me with questions about the show. Some people give me a commentary about the show like they need me to hear what they think about it.

This comes after Lenore Goss-Matjie also answered some burning questions. She also addressed racial comments on the show.

‘I think it’s safe to say I’m not going back’: Chidimma Adetshina on returning to SA https://www.thesouthafrican.com/lifestyle/celeb-news/local-celebs/chidimma-adetshina-rules-out-returning-to-sa/ Wed, 28 Aug 2024 10:03:51 +0000 https://www.thesouthafrican.com/?p=2165529 Chidimma Adetshina is undoubtedly enjoying her stay in Nigeria after withdrawing from Miss SA, and she’s not looking forward to returning to South Africa soon.

During one of her interviews ahead of the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant finale, Chidimma Adetshina expressed her joy about her stay in Nigeria – her father’s native land.

CHIDIMMA ADETSHINA NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO RETURN TO SOUTH AFRICA

During her interview with Cool FM Nigeria, Chidimma Adetshina jokingly said, “I think it’s safe to say I’m not going back.”

The 23-year-old added, “It’s been amazing. I’m not even looking forward to going back [to South Africa]. I just want to explore more. I want to stay longer and see what happens next.”

Earlier this year, Chidimma Adetshina hogged headlines when South Africans questioned her eligibility to contest for the Miss South Africa crown after she revealed that she was born to a South African mother (Zulu) of Mozambican descent and a Nigerian father.

MISS SA WITHDRAWAL

Many politicians and celebrities questioned her eligibility based on her parent’s ethnicity, and the matter became a national debate.

The debate saw a formal complaint being lodged to the Home Affairs department to investigate and give clarity on her case.

However, the department found prima facie evidence to believe that Adetshina’s mother, a Mozambican, “may have committed fraud” in 2001.

Against the investigation, she withdrew from Miss SA, citing safety concerns.

Chidimma Adetshina posted, “After much careful consideration, I have made the difficult decision to withdraw myself from the competition for the safety and wellbeing of my family and I.

“With the full support of the Miss South Africa Organisation, I leave with a heart full of gratitude for this amazing experience.”

HOPES TO PROMOTE INCLUSION AND ACCEPTANCE

However, after withdrawing from Miss SA, Chidimma Adetshina was invited to participate in the Miss Universe Nigeria.

She has since been poised for the Miss Universe Nigeria crown, which will be held on 31 August at the Eko Convention Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos.

Speaking to the media, running for Miss Universe Nigeria, Chidimma Adetshina wants to advocate for inclusivity and acceptance.

Chidimma Adetshina said, “As a woman who has faced adversity, I want to use my voice and story alongside the Miss Universe Nigeria platform to promote inclusion and acceptance.

“I also want to educate people on the power of diversity to build a stronger community that benefits everyone.”

Over the weekend, Rassie Erasmus pulled his signature social media move by following the Springboks’ next opponents, the All Blacks. He also changed his header to a picture of the Web Ellis Trophy with the dates of the last two winning countries, South Africa and New Zealand.

Speaking at a media conference this week, Rassie responded to allegations that he is “trolling” the All Blacks on his social media account.

“No, it’s just interesting to me. It’s not mind games. Guys tweet stuff about their teams, and you see it and might learn something there. It is like getting the newspaper.

Rassie admitted that he made the move to “spy” on the team.

He added, “You look there and try to see what you can see. It’s really just nice to know what they are up to when they arrive.”

‘STUPID IF WE DON’T RESPECT THEM’

Rassie Erasmus added that he would go into this weekend’s match with awareness and respect for the Springboks’ opponent.

He said: “We’ll be stupid if we don’t respect them. We’ll be bad coaches, we’ll be stupid players, we’ll be an arrogant nation, and we’ll be put back in our place at number six or seven where we started.

Rassie added: “It’s a team that beat England at home. It’s a team that lost to Argentina. We’ve lost to Argentina. It’s a team we beat by one point in the World Cup.

“We’ve played the last ten times against them; one draw, four losses, and five wins for us.”

NEW PHOTOS OF FAF DE KLERK’S BABY GIRL

Faf de Klerk and his wife Mine welcomed their first child together, a baby girl named Remi-Ré de Klerk on 27 February at Rosepark Hospital in Bloemfontein. Mine has since shared new photos of Remi-Ré on Instagram, calling her a gem and expressing love for her baby. Take a look…

“Love you baby Rem❤️. You are a Gem,” she wrote.

Faf proposed to Mine in May 2022, and the pair tied the knot at the La Paris Estate in Franschhoek in October 2022. The pair met through mutual friends in Hermanus in December 2015. Mine later invited Faf to a friend’s wedding. The pair’s relationship faced the challenge of long distance as Faf moved to Manchester in 2017 while Mine was working at her father’s pharmacy in Postmasburg, Northern Cape.

During the Covid-19 lockdown, the distance became too much for the pair. They then decided to just be friends. However, the pair found their way back together in 2021.

Read more about the pair’s full relationship timeline here.

PICTURES: Former Orlando Pirates midfielder building a double-storey house https://www.thesouthafrican.com/lifestyle/celeb-news/local-celebs/pictures-former-orlando-pirates-midfielder-building-a-double-storey-house/ Tue, 27 Aug 2024 16:54:50 +0000 https://www.thesouthafrican.com/?p=2165154 Former Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates star Thandani Ntshumayelo is making headlines after he shared photos of a double-storey house he is reportedly building.

Thanks to his huge social media following, the former Orlando Pirates midfielder often trends whenever he posts.

FORMER ORLANDO PIRATES MIDFIELDER BUILDING A DOUBLE-STOREY HOUSE

Undoubtedly, the photos have gained thousands of comments and reactions since dropping online. The now-viral photos were first shared on his Instagram before they made rounds online.

Mzansi Soccer Stars also confirmed the news as they reposted the now-viral photos. Against the trends, Thandani Ntshumayelo has yet to confirm whether the double-storey is his or not openly.

It’s unclear where the 34-year-old is building his house, which seems to be in a remote location. Little is known about the house’s number of rooms.

Judging from the photos, Thandani Ntshumayelo’s double-storey house boasts modern architectural designs.

Mzansi was convinced that the former Orlando Pirates star would soon complete his house.

Thandani Ntshumayelo joins a host of former Premier League stars, including Teenage Hadebe, who recently made headlines with their lush properties.

Earlier this year, former Kaizer Chiefs star Teenage Hadebe showed off his mega-mansion in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.

However, in June, Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Melusi Buthelezi made headlines after he revealed that he was building a lush rural mansion in Nquthu, KwaZulu-Natal.

CAREER

Thandani Ntshumayelo started his youth career with Black Swallows before joining SuperSport United in 2005.

However, in 2009, he was promoted to the senior team. In 2012, the midfielder joined Orlando Pirates and made over 70 appearances.

In January 2016, Thandani Ntshumayelo was handed a four-year ban from football after he tested positive for a banned substance.

He returned to football in 2019, but it was never the same, and the star made it known that it was one of the reasons why he had to retire early.

In 2023, Thandani Ntshumayelo retired from football. During one of his interviews, the star said, “I rushed going back [to football], that’s why maybe something didn’t go well.

“The money was no longer the same again. That’s why I took a decision to retire early.”

LIFE AFTER FOOTBALL

However, the star has since returned to school and is studying law.

Former Yizo Yizo star Ernest Msibi: ‘I go to the auditions, but I don’t get callbacks’ https://www.thesouthafrican.com/lifestyle/celeb-news/local-celebs/former-yizo-yizo-star-ernest-msibi-struggles/ Tue, 27 Aug 2024 11:02:52 +0000 https://www.thesouthafrican.com/?p=2164741 South African actor Ernest Msibi, best known for his on-screen character Chester on Yizo Yizo, recently revealed that he is desperate for an acting job.

ERNEST MSIBI OPENS UP ABOUT HIS STRUGGLES

Despite being lauded as one of the best actors to come from South Africa, the 52-year-old actor has yet to star in any big-budget drama series in years.

Against his woes, Ernest Msibi now feels cancelled by the entertainment industry.

The star recently revealed to the media that he has been struggling to secure a job and has since turned to politics to make ends meet.

Earlier this year, it was reported that the former Yizo Yizo star was one of the actors who had joined the MK Party.

Some notable names from the entertainment industry working closely with the party include Mxolisi Mgingqeni Majozi and Papa Penny.

Ernest Msibi has it that he has been attending auditions but doesn’t get callbacks from casting directors.

Speaking to the media, Ernest Msibi said, “I don’t know what is happening. I go to the auditions, but I don’t get callbacks. I don’t know why I’m being sidelined like this. People are still celebrating me when they see me.

“But it’s hard now in this industry. Maybe people want to talk good things about me when I’m dead, but they’re failing to help me now that I’m still alive.”

CAREER

He was shot to fame in 1999 when he starred in Yizo Yizo. However, he had a dramatic exit in season 2.

Ernest Msibi once starred in Portrait of a Young Man Drowning as Boikie. In 2005, he landed the role of Vuvu in Zone 14.

Ernest Msibi was also part of the star-studded cast of Uzalo, where he played the on-screen character of Amos.

After leaving South Africa’s most-watched drama series, he joined Mzansi Magic’s hit series, Gomora. However, Ernest Msibi had a dramatic exit from Gomora. Rumour mill has it that he was fired.

The seasoned actor rejoined Uzalo after Gomora. Since then, he has yet to star in any big-budget drama series.

Ernest Msibi joins a host of actors who have opened up about their struggles of not finding jobs.

However, Innocent Masuku, who also starred alongside the seasoned actor, once revealed that he was looking for a job after falling on hard times.

Lorna Maseko: ‘Why I never post a man’ https://www.thesouthafrican.com/lifestyle/celeb-news/local-celebs/lorna-maseko-floyd-shivambu-relationship-child-mk-party-latest-news/ Tue, 27 Aug 2024 08:57:17 +0000 https://www.thesouthafrican.com/?p=2164603 Lorna Maseko – who has been romantically linked to EFF turned MK Party member Floyd Shivambu – has revealed her reasons for keeping her relationships off social media.

The TV personality, dancer, and chef was once accused of cheating on her ex-husband with Katlego Maboe and was even shamed by Springbok WAG Rachel Kolisi over her words about her husband, Siya.

LORNA MASEKO HINTS AT FLOYD SHIVAMBU ROMANCE?

According to the Citizen, Lorna Maseko has been romantically linked to Floyd Shivambu, who recently made headlines for swapping the EFF for the MK Party, led by former president Jacob Zuma.

The notoriously private couple allegedly share a three-year-old daughter together.

Hinting at her romantic life this week, Lorna – a former best friend of Bonang Matheba – posted a cryptic quote on Instagram that read: “Y’all notice how I never post a man? Very demure, very mindful, very considerate”.

According to Sunday World, Lorna Maseko and Floyd began dating in 2018 and have allegedly chosen to keep their relationship private.

Floyd has another daughter, Katekani, with TV and radio host Andile Masuku.

THAT KISS WITH KATLEGO MABOE

Lorna Maseko’s reasoning for keeping her relationships private probably stems from making headlines over her romantic choices.

In 2015, Lorna and fellow TV star Katlego Maboe shared a steamy kiss at the Durban July afterparty. At the time, Lorna was married to businessman Gcina Lukhele. They divorced a year later.

Confirming the incident, Katlego told CliffCentral.com of the incident: “It’s a simple thing. I was kissing someone I wasn’t meant to be kissing at the time.”

“What happened is‚ we went to the horse races‚ and we were together as a group of friends. We had a couple of drinks, and it was great. Later on in the night‚ there was a vibe. You know, when there’s a vibe‚ it’s just instantaneous. You look into each other’s eyes, and we snogged”.

In 2018, Lorna Maseko made headlines again after Siya Kolisi’s wife called her out on X (formerly Twitter).

In a tweet that went viral, the Springbok WAG called out a celeb – later identified as Lorna – who allegedly encouraged her friend to date a married man, name-dropping Siya Kolisi.

Rachel – who has since quit the app –  tweeted at the time: “I watched a local TV show last week where a local ‘celeb’ was encouraging her friend to ‘go after/date/hook up’ with Siya Kolisi.

“Had to rewind a few times to make sure I heard right.”

While Rachel did not name her, Twitter detectives dug up the clip in question from the reality TV show Being Bonang.

‘Best’: Siya Kolisi reacts to sister’s hypothetical questions https://www.thesouthafrican.com/lifestyle/celeb-news/local-celebs/siya-kolisi-reacts-sister-liphelo-rachel-hypothetical-questions-watch/ Tue, 27 Aug 2024 07:17:04 +0000 https://www.thesouthafrican.com/?p=2163904 Springboks skipper Siya Kolisi sat down and answered some hypothetical questions from his sister, Liphelo in a video shared on TikTok on Sunday 25 August.

SIYA KOLISI REACTS TO HIS SISTER’S HYPOTETICAL QUESTIONS

Liphelo, the half sister of Siya Kolisi sat down with him to get his reaction to a few hypothetical questions as part of a TikTok challenge. She began by asking what Siya would do if she used his card to buy clothes for herself and her friend, to which he revealed he would be upset.

Liphelo then asked what Siya would do if she got a tattoo and he said he knows she wouldn’t do that. He went on to then confirm that Liphelo would not get a tattoo. She then asked what Siya would do if she called him to fetch from somewhere at 3am. He said he would be there.

Liphelo then asked Siya what he would do if she secretly got married at 18.

“I would secretly find the guy, and secretly talk to him,” he replied.

Take a look at the full video…

This comes after Liphelo asked Rachel the same questions.

SIYA AND RACHEL’S JOURNEY TO ADOPTING HIS SIBLINGS

The Springboks skipper has two half siblings – Liyema and Liphelo. Siya shares a mother with his siblings, who tragically passed away. Liyema and Liphelo’s father also reportedly passed away. When Siya and Rachel were financially stable, they adopted his siblings.

According to Kaya FM, Siya found his siblings in foster care in Zwide – a township in Gqeberha. Siya explained that when he went to see his siblings, his sister didn’t know him. He also previously revealed that the legal process took about 18 months.

Earlier this month, Rachel reflected on 10 years since the first time Liyema and Liphelo came to stay with them to see if they were comfortable to move in forever. Take a look…

“While celebrating Liphelo’s birthday last week, and having all 4 kids home for the weekend, we reflected on the fact that almost to the day, 10 years ago, Liphelo and Liyema came to spend a week with us in Cape Town to see that they were comfortable to make the move and come stay with us forever,” she wrote.

“I was 24 years old Nic was 3 months old, Liphelo had just turned 7 and Liyema 12. 10 years, of the greatest gift God could have ever given me,” she continued.

This comes a week after entertainment commentator, Phil Mphela revealed on X on Saturday, 17 August that Adetshina is leading Miss Universe Nigeria with 7712 votes.

The 23-year-old law student was forced to back out of the Miss SA finale following online bullying and a petition to remove her from the competition.

MISS KWARA: FIRST PLUS-SIZED WOMAN IN MISS UNIVERSE NIGERIA

East Coast Radio reports that Ufa Dania aka Miss Kwara is the first plus-sized woman to take part in the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant.

The 25-year-old beauty queen who sympathises with Adetshina says she too suffered online harassment herself because she’s a plus-sized model.

Ignoring the critics, Dania says she saw the beauty pageant as a means of “empowerment” for women to “show their talents, their beauty, their intellect and their professional life”.

South Africans have taken to social media to reveal that they are rooting for Miss Kwara to win the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant.

South African X user, @nelly_weideman says she’s voting for Miss Kwara to change stereotypes about beauty pageants.

She adds: “We made history with our first ever deaf Miss SA, let’s make history for Nigeria too. Let’s vote for Miss Kwara.”

SOUTH AFRICANS ROOTING FOR UFA DANIA

@Wonder158304 said: “Body shaming Miss Kwara won’t work. Let us be honest she is brave and breaking the stereotypes. She is just a true African woman with confidence. Let us vote for her. Miss universe Nigeria.”

@Only_Botake: ” Miss Kwara is our queen. She deserves to be crowned as Miss Universe Nigeria. She deserves it, give her your vote please.”

@Proverbs31Aunty: “I love her confidence and how she fought for that confidence.”

@Wonder158304: “It is very rare to find a girl like her in these beauty competitions.”

@uJabuSibeko: “I fell in love with her on her Insta. Very gorgeous girl with a great personality!”

@Wonder158304: “She is showing young girls that they can be confident too and embrace their body.”

@TamarSussex: “I like her personality, let me vote for her “Miss Kwara” to the world.”

BNG to skin bleach: Chidimma mocked over pageant ‘downgrade’ https://www.thesouthafrican.com/lifestyle/celeb-news/local-celebs/chidimma-adetshina-miss-universe-nigeria-prizes-finale-latest/ Mon, 26 Aug 2024 17:41:07 +0000 https://www.thesouthafrican.com/?p=2164306 Former Miss SA finalist Chidimma Adetshina has been mocked on social media for “downgrading” her quest for the crown to the Miss Universe Nigeria competition.

This follows behind-the-scenes images of pageant week that have gone viral on social media.

A new queen will be crowned on Saturday, 31 August, at the Eko Hotels & Suites in Lagos. The winner will represent the country at the Miss Universe pageant in November in Mexico.

HAS CHIDIMMA ‘DOWNGRADED’ BY COMPETING AT MISS UNIVERSE NIGERIA?

On the X platform, social media users have been posting side-by-side comparisons of the Miss SA pageant – won by Mia Le Roux earlier this month – and the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant.

This follows Chidimma’s decision to drop out of the local pageant in favour of one promoting her “father’s homeland.” The 23-year-old’s parents – a Nigerian father and a Mozambican mother – are currently under investigation by the Department of Home Affairs amid allegations they fraudulently registered her birth in South Africa.

In the viral images, many believe Chidimma “downgraded” to the Nigerian pageant after dropping out of the prestigious Miss SA contest.

@Fit_Mandisa: “What a downgrade. Chidimma went to a high school beauty contest in a village.”

@Ona1718501: “I am sure Chidimma regrets being there. This is a downgrade.”

@ApheleleJody: “During Miss SA’s preparations/rehearsals, they were drinking BNG and Mofaya. What are they drinking in Miss Universe Nigeria? Tap water?”

Others, like TV commentator Phil Mphela, have criticised Chidimma for being obligated to promote a skin-bleaching brand, which is a major sponsor of the Miss Universe Nigeria.

“Weh, Chichi. Is all this worth it, mara?” he tweeted.

‘STILL PROUDLY SOUTH AFRICAN’

Despite competing at the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant, Chidimma Adetshina has told the public that she is still “proudly South African.”

Speaking in a radio interview with Rhythm 93.7FM Nigeria, she said of the “adversity” of being under public scrutiny over her parentage: “My name has brought a lot of awareness into this. But I don’t want it to come in a negative way. Because as much as I am still fighting for my identity, I am still proudly South African, and I am still proudly Nigerian. And it’s really OK to be diverse.

“I want people to see that good side but also for us to start acknowledging it and accepting it.”

Chidimma added that her mission was to promote inclusion and diversity.

She continued: “I will make a powerful impact. There are a lot of people who are just as diverse as I am and I don’t want us to live in a society or community where we are excluded because of the diverse backgrounds we have. I want us to be included, celebrated, appreciated, loved, and accepted.

“Me just being here, I am not only representing myself, but I am representing a lot of people who see themselves in me and are diverse in their culture.”

The award-winning DJ and producer recently turned a year older, and social media was abuzz in the backdrop of his birthday.

Fans and fellow celebrities quickly flooded his social media feeds with heartfelt birthday wishes.

GUGU KHATHI PENS A HEARTFELT BIRTHDAY POST TO DJ TIRA

Despite receiving thousands of messages on social media, Gugu Khathi’s heartfelt post seems to have stolen the attention.

The reality star shared a series of photos, including old pictures of them when they were young. She gushed over her husband as she opened up about her 18-year marriage.

Gugu Khathi also said DJ Tira is a fantastic husband and father.

The celebrated reality star posted on Instagram, “Happy Birthday to the love of my life!  You’ve been my friend, my partner, my husband, and the amazing dad of our little ones for 18 incredible years.”

Gugu Khathi added, “I am so grateful for every moment we’ve shared. Thank you for being my ride-or-die, my rock, and my greatest blessing. Here’s to many more adventures together! I love you endlessly!”

No doubt, Gugu Khathi’s post has since gained thousands of comments and reactions since it dropped. However, against the post, many celebrities quickly flooded her comments section with their two cents.

Andile Ncube commented, “Damn! It’s been 18 already?!! Congrats on that, and happy to Makoya.” Mafikizolo singer Nhlanhla Mafu posted, “I can tell so many stories about the 1st pic. Love you guys.”

Despite being one of the most followed entertainers, DJ Tira has managed to keep his age under wraps, leaving many to guess.

However, The South African has connected the dots about his age against the backdrop of his birthday. DJ Tira posted on Instagram, “+1 Fourth floor senior citizen.”

Against his birthday post, his age was quickly implicated in the mix. DJ Tira was born on 24 August 1976. The 48-year-old star was born in KwaHlabisa Village in KwaZulu-Natal.

MAKING HEADLINES

DJ Tira and Gugu Khathi have been married for over a decade and have wowed South Africa with their picture-perfect marriage, from vacations to birthday surprises.

However, they have also had their fair share of celebrity marriage drama but have managed to get through it. Earlier this year, it was reported that there was trouble in paradise between the pair.

Gender activist Sli Khumalo accused Gugu Khathi of having an extra-marital affair with Tebogo Lerole of the Kwela Tebza band.

Addressing the rumours, Tira said he has full confidence in his wife’s faithfulness and refuses to “pay attention to nonsense.”

On the other hand, Gugu Khathi made it known that she was suing Sli Khumalo for her damning allegations.

WATCH: A look at Gogo Maweni’s traditional wedding https://www.thesouthafrican.com/lifestyle/celeb-news/local-celebs/gogo-mawenis-traditional-wedding/ Mon, 26 Aug 2024 12:24:08 +0000 https://www.thesouthafrican.com/?p=2164184 Celebrity sangoma Gogo Maweni and her partner Sabelo Magube are making headlines after they made their union official with a traditional wedding ceremony attended by close family and friends over the weekend.

A LOOK AT GOGO MAWENI’S TRADITIONAL WEDDING

No doubt their traditional wedding comes barely months after she took to social media to reveal that Sabelo Magube had paid lobola for her.

Earlier this year, Gogo Maweni hogged headlines after her husband paid lobola for her. Of interest, Sabelo paid off R150 000 for lobola, and Gogo Maweni even confirmed the news.

The sangoma said, “It was R150k, but there are still cows remaining, which will be paid out before the wedding.”

However, against the news of their lobola, the two jetted off to the Midlevels to celebrate their union. Barely a few months after their lobola ceremony, they tied the knot in a traditional wedding.

Taking to social media, celebrity sangoma Gogo Maweni shared photos and videos from their traditional wedding. She captioned the post, ‘My forever.’

The two wore traditional attires and were all smiles during the ceremony.

Since being posted on the Internet, photos and videos of their traditional wedding have received thousands of comments and reactions.

Fans and fellow celebrities quickly flooded her comments section with congratulatory messages.

Actress Winnie Ntshaba, “Hhay bo mama wakwazulu, you own it, so calmly yet so on point. So sorry I missed it, my sis. Congratulations once again.”

DJ Happy Gal SA commented, “What a beautiful ceremony! Congratulations, my love.”

However, before the traditional wedding, the two reportedly had a wedding at her parents’ house in Ormonde.

A few months ago, the celebrity sangoma revealed that she would marry the Shembe way (a religion combining Zulu culture and Christianity), ending with a white wedding.

However, confirmed reports suggest that the two are planning another big wedding. Details of their second-leg wedding have yet to be revealed.

MAKING HEADLINES

The two have made headlines for the wrong reasons despite keeping their private lives under wraps.

News of their traditional wedding comes against possible divorce rumours from 2023. However, against the rumours, Gogo Maweni rubbished the news with a saucy clapback.

On their anniversary, Gogo Maweni said, “Everybody said it would end in tears … The tears have been there, but the end is never coming. I don’t care what social media says.”

On the other hand, Sabelo Mgube set the record straight for her relationship with the celebrity sangoma.

‘Damn!’: Danny K celebrates anniversary of debut song [video] https://www.thesouthafrican.com/lifestyle/celeb-news/local-celebs/danny-k-songs-hurt-so-bad-wife-brother-now-latest/ Sun, 25 Aug 2024 19:32:10 +0000 https://www.thesouthafrican.com/?p=2163805 It’s been 24 years since Danny K – real name Daniel Koppel – released his smash hit debut single, Hurt So Bad.

The R&B singer – who worked with the likes of Kabelo Mabalane and the late Mandoza – has taken a different route from his music career into retail, where he owns and manages several businesses.

DANNY K CELEBRATES ANNIVERSARY OF DEBUT SONG

On his TikTok account, Danny K – now 47 – shared a look back at the 2000 release of his debut single, Hurt So Bad.

The song, as well as the music video featuring the baby-faced singer, catapulted him into stardom.

Hurt So Bad featured the backup vocals of another R&B star, TK Mhinga, who died of a suspected drug overdose in 2006.

“This was 24 years ago, damn!”

@dannykofficial Promotional Use Only ‼️💿 #HurtsSoBad ♬ Hurts so Bad – Danny K

The song was released on Danny K’s self-titled album. He would released five more – J23 (2003), Same Difference (a joint album with Mandoza in 2005), This Is My Time (2006), Across The Line (2010), Good Look (2013) – as well as several more singles thereafter.

But despite his successful, SAMA-winning music career, Danny K has taken a different path.

According to BusinessLive, the star opened his sweet and confectionary company, KD Foods, in 2015.

In 2022, his company bought Sweets From Heaven from liquidation.

Danny K has also introduced other luxury brands to the SA market, including US men’s footwear brands Cole Haan and Valora Jewellery.

REMEMBERING HIS BABY BROTHER

In another Instagram post, Danny K remembered his younger brother Jarren, who died in a helicopter crash in 2003.

At the time, the singer’s sibling had turned 23 years old, inspiring the title of his next album, J23. Included in the tracklist was the song I Can’t Imagine A Life Without You, which he dedicated to his brother.

She captioned a clip of the song: “I wrote this song from a place of incredible pain and sadness. It was intensely personal and an unlikely radio hit, but it became an anthem for anyone suffering loss and grief”.

Photo of Rachel Kolisi with a R950k Mercedes-Benz goes viral https://www.thesouthafrican.com/lifestyle/celeb-news/local-celebs/photo-of-rachel-kolisi-with-a-r950k-mercedes-benz-goes-viral/ Sun, 25 Aug 2024 17:33:16 +0000 https://www.thesouthafrican.com/?p=2163779 Rachel Kolisi is topping trends after she was spotted with a highly sought-after Mercedes-Benz, which costs a fortune.

Siya Kolisi’s wife recently took to Instagram to share photos from her recent shoot, but one of her photos, standing next to a sleek Mercedes-Benz GLA 200, stole the attention of petrolheads.

RACHEL KOLISI’S PHOTO WITH A R950 000 MERC SPARKS VIRAL BUZZ

No doubt, Rachel Kolisi’s photo has been making rounds online, with several petrolheads approving the car.

After all, her huge social media following often thrusts her into top trends whenever she posts.

However, little is known about Rachel Kolisi, who owns the sleek car that has since thrust her into trends.

Petrolheads were quick to implicate the car’s price tag into the mix, while others praised its performance and extras for making it one of the best Mercedes-Benzs within the GLA line.

According to Mercedes-Benz, the car’s base price tag is R940 585, and its Guaranteed Future Value is 60.81% based on 200 000 km pa.

However, prices tend to differ because of the year of manufacture, trims and extras.

A brand new Mercedes-Benz GLA 200 in South Africa has a base price tag of around R1 million at several dealerships nationwide.

Rachel Kolisi joins a host of Springboks wags spotted with some of the flashiest Mercs.

Last year, Layla Kolbe made headlines when she shared photos of the Mercedes-Benz 4Matic, which was worth millions. Like Rachel Kolisi, she didn’t openly confirm that the car was hers.

However, over the years, Springboks wags have had the opportunity to drive around some of the Mercedes-Benzs thanks to their husband’s partnership with the German automobile.

Cheslin Kolbe, Siya Kolisi, and Eben Etzebeth are some Springboks players who are ‘Friends of the Brand.’

Over the years, Mercedes-Benz SA has gifted them with some of the finest Mercs in the world to drive around with.

MAKING HEADLINES

In 2021, Siya Kolisi joined a range of elite athletes worldwide who are “friends of the brand” for Mercedes-Benz, including tennis legend Roger Federer, F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton, and golfer Rickie Fowler.

At the time, the two were given brand-new Mercedes: Siya had a Mercedes-Benz G-Class, and Rachel Kolisi had a Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupé.

However, at some point, Siya Kolisi and his wife Rachel hogged headlines when it was reported that they had an impressive car collection worth R20 million.

Against the rumours, the power couple rubbished the claims and made it known that was a lie.

The two might not have an R20 million car collection, but over the years, they have been spotted driving some of the flashiest cars on the market, which include:

  • Ranger Rover Sport
  • Two Mercedes-Benz SUVs
  • Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon

Summer body loading? Gayton shares weight loss update https://www.thesouthafrican.com/lifestyle/celeb-news/local-celebs/minister-of-sport-gayton-mckenzie-fitness-weight-loss-twitter-latest/ Sun, 25 Aug 2024 17:28:24 +0000 https://www.thesouthafrican.com/?p=2163775 Summer bodies are made in winter, which is why Minister of Sport, Arts, and Culture Gayton McKenzie was up at the crack of dawn for an early morning run.

Last month, the Patriotic Alliance leader promised to “look the part” in his new position. He has since revealed that he’s lost nearly 10 kgs since he vowed to get fit.

GAYTON MCKENZIE ON WEIGHT LOSS, STAYING HEALTHY

In another early morning tweet, Gayton McKenzie called on South Africans to leave their warm beds and start their day with physical exercise.

Sharing a clip of him jogging, he said, “Wake up, let’s run! Go fetch your body. Eat right, be healthy. We can all do this, the whole of South Africa.”

Last week, Gayton revealed that he had lost close to 10kgs since becoming the Minister of Sports, Art and Culture.

He tweeted: “I lost 1,6kgs in the last seven days. I have lost 9kgs since I started this weight loss journey.  I am feeling much better and healthier”.

Following his inauguration ceremony, Gayton told his social media followers, “I promise to run every day. You cannot have an overweight Minister of Sports!”

FINALLY FASTENING HIS JACKET!

Meanwhile, Gayton shared a hilarious update on his meeting with Deputy President Paul Mashatile.

The duo met at the weekend’s Presidential Imbizo in Ekhuruleni.

At Gayton’s swearing-in ceremony in July, he claimed that Paul had cautioned him to “fasten” his suit jacket, which he claimed he couldn’t do because of his weight.

“My tummy was in the way,” he joked.

This time, however, Gayton proved that his suit jacket was finally able to fasten, thanks to his weight loss.

“Don’t hate, my jacket is closing!” he tweeted.

WRAP: Chidimma Adetshina gets second chance in Nigeria’s Miss Universe https://www.thesouthafrican.com/lifestyle/celeb-news/local-celebs/wrap-chidimma-adetshina-gets-second-chance-in-nigeria-miss-universe-result-winner/ Sun, 25 Aug 2024 16:51:51 +0000 https://www.thesouthafrican.com/?p=2163774 She was hounded from the Miss South Africa contest in a torrent of vicious, xenophobic abuse, but Chidimma Adetshina could become Nigeria’s Miss Universe this week after being welcomed with open arms into the beauty pageant.

Chidimma Adetshina was born in Soweto

The 23-year-old law student – who was born in Soweto to a Nigerian father – was forced to pull out of the South African contest last month “for the safety of my family” after a backlash that exposed anti-foreigner sentiment in South Africa.

The furore, which turned ugly online, drew in ministers, with a government investigation claiming that her mother might have stolen the identity of a South African woman.

But Nigeria’s Miss Universe organisers have ridden to the rescue.

“There is enough racism in the world,” Nigeria’s Miss Universe founder Guy Murray-Bruce told AFP.

“We shouldn’t be fighting with one another. I want Africa, the black continent, to be united.”

“It has been very hard,” Adetshina admitted at her Lagos hotel, where she met up with the other contestants for the first time.

The other 24 women vying for the crown were more than happy to welcome – and defend – their new “sister”.

“Beauty contests are supposed to be places filled with love,” said Lucille Oputa, 25, representing the capital Abuja.

Fortunately, “Nigeria is not xenophobic like South Africa”, she insisted.

Unthinkable

“The South Africans must understand that we are all humans,” added Chioma Ogbonna, a 27-year-old Canadian-Nigerian representing Plateau State, who like Chidimma Adetshina is a dual national.

“I hope that Chidimma can live her dream here in Nigeria,” she added.

She said it would be unthinkable for her in Canada to be discriminated against for her dual nationality.

Miss Ekiti, Esther Gabriel, who is representing the southwestern state, was equally supportive.

“I want to build bridges with my sisters, whatever their race, their tribe, their language or colour – we are all humans,” said the 30-year-old.

Miss Kwara Ufa Dania, 25, said she sympathised with Adetshina having suffered online harassment herself as “the very first plus-sized woman to take part in this contest”.

Ignoring the critics, she said she saw the beauty pageant as a means of “empowerment” for women to “show their talents, their beauty, their intellect and their professional life”.

Meanwhile, Chidimma Adetshina – who insists she is “proud to be South African and Nigerian” – has six days to learn the customs of Taraba State in the northeast which she is representing in the contest.

In just a few weeks, the couple will be celebrating their second wedding anniversary.

Thato shared in a sweet post last year: “I made a lifelong commitment to the kindest and sweetest man ever. He leads from Godly principles and loves so gently. I’m truly blessed to call him my husband for FOREVER! I love him so much”.

BABY MAKES THREE!

Apart from Thato Mosehle, in recent days, we’ve seen other Miss SA former winners announce their pregnancies.

This includes Miss SA 2011 winner Melinda Bam, who revealed that she is expecting her second child with her husband, Adriaan Bergh.

“Glowing and growing,” she captioned a cute baby bump Instagram post of herself.

FORMER ORLANDO PIRATES STAR ANDILE JALI FLAUNTS HIS CARS AND BIKES

With an illustrious career spanning years, Andile Jali has quickly become one of the most followed footballers in South Africa. He has wowed many with his flair.

However, the star has also wowed many with his life off-pitch and often trends whenever he posts, thanks to his huge social media following.

Andile Jali has earned a fortune from his illustrious career that spans years and has splurged thousands, if not millions, on his life of glitz and glamour.

He is a biker and is not shy about showing off. Over the years, he has shared photos of his monster bikes on social media.

No doubt the photos have since flooded social media, and petrolheads quickly approved his fleet.

However, the rumour mill says that Andile Jali has more than two cars. Despite the rumours, Jali has yet to address the reports.

After all, he joins a host of South African footballers who have shown off their cars online.

Earlier this year, Orlando Pirates star Melusi Buthelezi, 26, hogged headlines when he showed off one of his flashiest cars, an Audi SQ5.

Some notable stars who have hogged headlines with impressive fleets include Khama Billiat and Teko Modise.

MAKING HEADLINES

However, Andile Jali’s now-viral photo comes barely a few days after he took to social media to show off his herd of cattle.

A few months ago, the former Orlando Pirates star made headlines after it was revealed that he had spread his wings to agriculture.

Since then, the celebrated star has shared some priceless moments at his rumoured farm in Port Elizabeth.

He recently set social media abuzz after he shared his video feeding his cattle herd with hay bales.

Andile Jali captioned the now-viral post, “Protect your heart, beliefs and thoughts. Align them to what God says about you. You are blessed, beautiful in and out and wonderfully made. AJ15.”

Chidimma spills the tea on her relationship status [video] https://www.thesouthafrican.com/lifestyle/celeb-news/local-celebs/chidimma-adetshina-husband-child-divorce-miss-universe-nigeria/ Sun, 25 Aug 2024 12:44:07 +0000 https://www.thesouthafrican.com/?p=2163520 Miss Universe Nigeria hopeful and former Miss SA contestant Chidimma Adetshina has responded to a burning question about her relationship status.

The beauty queen – who is a divorced mother of one – has made headlines in recent weeks over her Nigerian father and Mozambican mother.

She’s also currently at the centre of a Home Affairs investigation into her South African citizenship.

CHIDIMMA ON WHO SHE IS DATING

Speaking in an interview with Celeb Sporty, Chidimma Adetshina shared some insight into her personal life. The clip comes days ahead of the Miss Universe Nigeria, which will take place next weekend.

“Who is the man in your life? And don’t tell me, Jesus Christ”, asked host Tacha Akide.

A laughing Chidima, fondly known as “ChiChi”, responded: “I was just about to say that”.

She added: “There is no comment on that for now.”

According to reports, Chidimma was once married to a Nigerian club promoter known as “King Sefo”. The couple share a young son together.

Although the 23-year-old has never mentioned her ex-husband by name, she did reveal that she left her marriage over unfair gender roles imposed on her.

She told Sowetan: “I got divorced in February. We were not compatible because he had this ideology of what an African married woman is. I didn’t want to be in a position where I couldn’t go out but had to clean, cook… that was just not for me because, as a society, we are way past that phase”.

‘I’M PROUDLY SOUTH AFRICAN’

In another interview of her Miss Universe Nigeria quest, Chidimma Adetshina spoke about the “adversity” she has faced.

Speaking in a radio interview with Rhythm 93.7FM Nigeria, she said: “My name has brought a lot of awareness into this, but I don’t want it to come in a negative way because as much as I am still fighting for my identity, I am still proudly South African and I am still proudly Nigerian and it’s really OK to be diverse.

Hlomla Dandala leaves ‘Smoke and Mirrors’ https://www.thesouthafrican.com/lifestyle/celeb-news/local-celebs/hlomla-dandala-leaves-etv-smoke-and-mirrors-caesar-zolisa-xaluva/ Sun, 25 Aug 2024 07:03:05 +0000 https://www.thesouthafrican.com/?p=2163427 Former The River actor Hlomla Dandala is exiting Smoke and Mirrors.

HLOMLA DANDALA AS CAESAR

Entertainment commentator, Phil Mphela reveals that legendary actor Hlomla Dandala is leaving Smoke and Mirrors.

E.tv welcomed the actor for the recast role of Caesar Ngonyama in season two of the hit telenovela.

He made an appearance from the 16 April at 9pm at Caesar and Thandiswa’s wedding day.

Dandala previously revealed to IOL that the role was an exciting challenge for him as the character of Caesar is loved by viewers. His aim was to please and ensure that he delivers as a performer.

“Playing a villainous character such as Caesar will surely bring the best out of me. But more than anything I’m excited to be back with the eFamily and I look forward to a real joyride as we enter the second season of the show.”

Dandala’s character, Caesar married Thandisa (played by talented actress Ayanda Bandla) at the end of season one.

Actor Zolisa Xaluva who played the first Caesar secured a role in Mzansi Magic’s crime drama series, Code 13 as Detective Bheki Ndlovu.

Viewers of the show took to social media to reveal that Dandala was not meant for the role and that they were not impressed.

‘SMOKE AND MIRRORS’ FANS: ‘ONLY ZOLISA XALUVA CAN PLAY CAESAR’

@tshidishete: The problem is simple… Only Zolisa can lay Caeser. It’s even like the character was written for him. Zolisa must just come finish what he started qha.”

@MohBil2: “He should not have accepted that role. Hlomla is an A-list. But Zolisa had set the bar so high that it made Hlomla look terrible.”

@BigVuyyi: “Why do I feel like if Vuyo Dabula was Xhosa speaking he’d be able to play the role a bit better than Hlomla?”

@ZuluBongaSA: “Season 2 of ‘Smoke and Mirrors’ was not necessary at least for me. I stopped watching when season 1 ended. Telenovela were created to last for a year but nowadays there’s no difference between a soapie and a telenovela. Anyway, I prefer weekly TV show.”

@dima_onzima: “Exactly. It should have ended on Season 1. Now, All the important characters are no longer there.”

‘Law, Love and Betrayal’: Nimrod Nkosi on Showmax legal drama https://www.thesouthafrican.com/lifestyle/celeb-news/local-celebs/law-love-and-betrayal-nimrod-nkosi-showmax-watch/ Sun, 25 Aug 2024 06:52:13 +0000 https://www.thesouthafrican.com/?p=2163439 Nimrod Nkosi chatted about his role as Gatsha Gumede on Showmax’s legal drama, Law, Love and Betrayal.

Law, Love and Betrayal will be landing on Showmax on Thursday 5 September, with new episodes releasing every Thursday. The series stars familiar faces like Dineo Rasedile and Pearl Modiadie. The trailer gives viewers the first glimpse of Nimrod Nkosi as Gatsha Gumede, the founder of Gumede & Associates, where a succession battle is brewing.

Take a look at the trailer here…

For over three decades, Nimrod has captivated audiences as the host of iconic TV shows, like Jam AlleyLive Lotto Draw, and more recently uTatakho. In addition to presenting, he’s also had standout acting roles in series like IsibayaThe Queen, and The Estate

“Gatsha Gumede is a man who has achieved a lot in life. He came from a difficult background but pursued his education and studied law. He rose in that environment and eventually opened his own law firm. Starting small, he built it up until Gumede and Associates was formed,” he said speaking of his character.

“Gatsha is an expert in constitutional law. He goes to court primarily to clear up messes and facilitate takeovers. If there’s a case he wants and he knows the judge, his presence alone indicates the likely outcome.,” he continued.

Q&A WITH NIMROD NKOSI

Why a legal series?

I grew up watching law-inspired movies like To Kill A Mockingbird and shows like LA LawMatlockChicago Law, and Boston Legal. When I was 11 years old, these were the shows I watched. They still are: recently, I watched an HBO series called The Night Of, starring John Turturro, who plays a brilliant lawyer.

Are there certain characters who inspired this role?

Drawing inspiration from actors like Blair Underwood in LA Law, who was the only black actor on the show, was helpful.

I also have friends who are lawyers, who explained that the courtroom dynamics differ in South Africa. Here, actors must rely on facial expressions and gestures more than movement. Ultimately, 80% of the performance must come from within the actor.

There’s a company called Dramatec, an acting consultancy founded by my co-star Anelisa Phewa. This coaching helped to give my character an extra layer.

Gatsha has a complex relationship with his children, who in some cases are also his employees. As a father yourself, what parenting advice would you give your character?

I would tell him, ‘My brother, just chill a little bit. The lottery of birth is amazing; you’ll never give birth to someone exactly like you.’

Even though they say an apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, which is true, he hates that saying. He is driven and wants to see his children thrive in a powerful environment, but he forgets that they are not necessarily driven by the same forces that motivated him.

I’d say, ‘Let the children express themselves and their talents.’ You can spend years trying to impress or please your parents, but those are years you’ll never get back if you don’t try to be yourself. Yes, discipline is important, and life isn’t always rosy, but it’s not all about thorns either. You have to find a balance.

Also, comparing kids and pitting them against each other is something I would advise him against.

What was the most challenging part of playing Gatsha?

I needed guidance on why he is such an angry man. He has achieved a lot, and men like him have seen and done things that weigh heavy on their minds. You can imagine the cases he has handled and things that burden him.

But the process was to find out what exactly bothers him this much.

Naturally, I’m not an angry person. I love people. I hug a lot. This was part of the discussion that I must depart from Nimrod because I’m too sweet. My process was always, when I’m with Pearl, I’d say, ‘Dude, I’m gonna go in on you today.’ But we are also taught to let go of that character and not take it home.

The difficult part was being rude and cutting people short. Saying things like, ‘Get out of my way’; ‘Where’s my tea?’; ‘ There’s no blue cheese’. He’s that fussy. He’s quite different from me. Yes, I have high standards, but I’m not a cutthroat type of guy, even on set.

New beef brewing? Rassie throws shade again on X https://www.thesouthafrican.com/lifestyle/celeb-news/local-celebs/rassie-erasmus-twitter-jake-white-comments-springboks-vs-all-blacks/ Sat, 24 Aug 2024 17:58:34 +0000 https://www.thesouthafrican.com/?p=2163333 Rassie Erasmus has used his X account to slam his critics again, particularly after the comments made by former Springbok coach Jake White. He’s also followed the official account of New Zealand’s All Blacks, who will play South Africa next weekend.

The Boks will face their biggest rugby rivals in two home-ground matches on 31 August and 7 September.

RASSIE ERASMUS THROWS SHADE AGAIN ON X?

On his X (former Twitter) account, Rassie Erasmus threw his followers for a loop when he changed his name to “Johan Erasmus when he was entitled.”

The outspoken Boks coach also changed his profile pic to a throwback image of himself as a young rugby player.

Many of his X followers took the move as an indirect swipe at Bulls coach Jake White. This, after the former Boks coach issued a “cautionary” warning to both Rassie and the Springboks squad.

White coached the national team between 2004 and 2007, the year in which they won their second Rugby World Cup title.

In an opinion piece for Rugby365, White implied that Rassie was likely scrambling in the transition of older players for new ones.

He also inadvertently criticised Rassie for permitting players like Siya Kolisi and Eben Etzebeth – who walked out UFC Middleweight Champion Dricus du Plessis to the ring before his match last weekend –  to become somewhat celebrities

He shared: “I deliberately did that because I didn’t want them to get carried away or lose their respect for a team game.”

White also “cautioned” Rassie and his players not to “underestimate their famous adversaries.”

TROLLING THE ALL BLACKS?

Meanwhile, Rassie Erasmus has pulled his signature social media move by following the Springboks’ next opponents, the All Blacks. He also changed his header to a picture of the Web Ellis Trophy with the dates of the last two winning countries, South Africa and New Zealand.

The rugby rivals will face off in the Rugby Championship in two back-to-back matches, the first of which take place on Saturday, 31 August, at 17:00 at Johannesburg’s Emirates Airline Park. The next game will take place a week later 7 September: SA v New Zealand (DHL Stadium, Cape Town).

The match will mark the first that the countries play each other again after their gripping 2023 Rugby World Cup final.

‘The Mommy Club: Sugar and Spice’: Lenore on racial comments https://www.thesouthafrican.com/lifestyle/celeb-news/local-celebs/the-mommy-club-sugar-and-spice-lenore-goss-matjie-christina-devraj-racial-comments/ Sat, 24 Aug 2024 14:21:40 +0000 https://www.thesouthafrican.com/?p=2162425 On the third episode of The Mommy Club: Sugar and Spice, which released on Showmax on Thursday 22 August, Lenore Goss-Matjie addressed the racial comments made by Christina Devraj

CRISTINA BRINGS UP RACE AT LENORE’S EVENT

Lenore Goss-Matjie hosted an event to launch her brand on the latest episode of The Mommy Club: Sugar and Spice. She invited all the ladies to the event, where her kids and husband were also in attendance. The Mommy Club: Sugar and Spice, stars nine affluent Indian mothers from Durban, and their colourful extended families who assist them in running their empires and raising their heirs.

As Lenore explained her heritage, having an Indian grandfather, she revealed that she competed in and won Miss India KZN.

“To any confusion that may be there, I know I get asked what are you… my grandfather was Indian, my grandmother, coloured,” she said.

However, Christina Devraj then jumped in saying that she thought Lenore wasn’t taken that seriously because she “had to prove her Indian heritage”. While the others looked cringe, and in shock, Lenore then explained that she didn’t have to prove anything.

LENORE SITS DOWN WITH CHRISTINA

Lenore then asked to have a one-on-one conversation with Christina, where she addressed the comments.

“I just feel like I need to pull you aside to chat to you about some of the comments you made. You made a comment to me not once, not twice, about being a coloured. And like now the competition I entered, about being brave… it comes across as very offensive, when one is pinpointing a person’s race,” said Lenore.

The pair then continued to talk about the situation, Christina then asked to be educated.

“I feel like this is an insecurity of yours. Sometimes people just want to ask to be educated, sometimes people just want to ask to know the context of your story,” said Christina.

She went on to say that her comments had no standing in a racist way, but she had no one in her circle in Lenore’s age. The pair then went on to explain their own points of view.

A look at Gogo Skhotheni’s failed marriages https://www.thesouthafrican.com/lifestyle/celeb-news/local-celebs/gogo-skhothenis-failed-marriages/ Sat, 24 Aug 2024 12:54:25 +0000 https://www.thesouthafrican.com/?p=2163255 Podcaster, DJ and reality star Gogo Skhotheni is making headlines after she reportedly took to social media to open up about her abusive marriage.

The podcaster is making headlines after her leaked WhatsApp chats flooded X after being shared by popular user @S_Phola.

MAKING HEADLINES

Gogo Skhotheni allegedly accused her husband, Monde Shange, of abuse, and several screenshots from Facebook have also been making rounds online.

In one of the now-viral leaked WhatsApp chats, Gogo Skhotheni asked her husband why he abuses her. She also revealed that he would rot in jail because of his actions.

According to the leaked chats and posts, Gogo Skhotheni asked, “Monde Shange, are you going to beat me up every time you see me, even if we are not together?”

She also added, “I am going public because I suspect that I’m going to be killed. It’s okay, even if I get judged. But if anything happens to me, Monde Shange will be responsible.”

However, little is known about whether the two are still together because some of Gogo Skhotheni’s posts left Mzansi confused.

A LOOK AT GOGO SKHOTHENI’S FAILED MARRIAGES

Against the trends, The South African dives into Gogo Skhotheni’s failed marriages, which often thrust her into top trends.

Despite her efforts to keep her private life private, Gogo Skhotheni’s love life often thrusts her into the top trends.

Her marriage with Monde Shange has been marred with abuse allegations, and the two have called it quits more than two times.

Earlier this year, the podcaster announced that she had parted ways with Monde Shange. Gogo Skhotheni revealed in January that she was single.

Speaking TimesLive, “I have been single for six months, and people still think I am in a relationship. Maybe because my break-up with my ex was a mature one.”

A few months after making it known that she was single, Gogo Skhotheni revealed that she had been abused but didn’t reveal the name of the perpetrator.

Mzansi was more than convinced that it was Shange.

However, a few months later, it was reported that the two were back together. Gogo Skhotheni seemingly confirmed the news but did not share more details about their reunion.

However, four months later, Gogo Skhotheni’s alleged chats with her husband have been making rounds.

WHERE IS HER SECOND HUSBAND NOW?

Surprisingly, she once revealed that she married two husbands, but who is the second husband, and where is he now?

Shange is not the only man Gogo Skhotheni has married. In 2022, she revealed that she had taken a second husband, Sibusiso, who lived separately from Shange.

At the time, Gogo Skhotheni – who said her ancestors instructed her to marry a second man – explained that she saw her husbands according to a schedule they put together.

However, during her interview on Nkululeko n Cultr, Gogo Skhotheni said that while she liked having more than one partner, Shange disapproved of it.

However, since then, Mzansi hasn’t heard about her second husband.

‘You’re my worst nightmare’: Gogo Skhotheni opens up about abuse https://www.thesouthafrican.com/lifestyle/celeb-news/local-celebs/gogo-skhotheni-opens-up-about-abuse/ Sat, 24 Aug 2024 10:42:20 +0000 https://www.thesouthafrican.com/?p=2163178 Podcaster, DJ and reality TV star Gogo Skhotheni – real name Tumi Motsoeneng – is making headlines after she allegedly took to social media to reveal that she is being abused.

Gogo Skhotheni shared a series of posts on Facebook, and some of her leaked chats with her husband have since flooded online.

GOGO SKHOTHENI OPENS UP ABOUT ABUSE

No doubt this is not the first time the bubbly DJ has opened up about her abusive relationship with her husband, Monde Shange.

Earlier this year, Gogo Skhotheni revealed that she was a victim of abuse but did not name the perpetrator, leaving Mzansi to guess.

However, earlier this year, she made headlines when she revealed that she had been single for six months after calling it quits with her husband.

Speaking TimesLive, “I have been single for six months, and people still think I am in a relationship. Maybe because my break-up with my ex was a mature one.”

Four months after announcing her single status, ZiMoja announced that the two were back together.

At the time, Gogo Skhotheni said, “I don’t want to talk too much about it because there is a lot to announce and to explain.”

However, barely four months after getting back together, the two are making headlines for the wrong reasons.

In the now viral leaked chats, Gogo Skhotheni asked her husband why he abuses her constantly. She went on to reveal that he was going to rot in jail, seemingly because of his actions.

Popular X user @S_Phola_first shared the photos. The user also shared screenshots of Gogo Skhotheni’s Facebook posts exposing Monde Shange.

Gogo Skhotheni asked, “Monde Shange, are you going to beat me up every time you see me, even if we are not together?”

She also added, “I am going public because I suspect that I’m going to be killed. It’s okay, even if I get judged. But if anything happens to me, Monde Shange will be responsible.”

PREVIOUS INCIDENT

No doubt this is not the first time she has opened up about being abused. Earlier this year, Gogo Skhotheni shared that she was physically abused.

However, the mother-of-six said she will not share images as she never wants her children to see them.

“Abuse is a drug you end up normalising, but again, thank God I am alive,” Gogo Skhotheni said. “I won’t post my face or the scars I had. I have kids to protect, but I am okay,” she added.

Dig at Home Affairs? Chidimma says she is ‘fighting for identity’ https://www.thesouthafrican.com/lifestyle/celeb-news/local-celebs/chidimma-adetshina-miss-universe-nigeria-home-affairs-investigation-citizenship/ Fri, 23 Aug 2024 18:22:54 +0000 https://www.thesouthafrican.com/?p=2162810 Former Miss SA contestant Chidimma Adetshina – who is now a finalist at the Miss Universe Nigeria –  has claimed that she is “fighting” for her identity amid an investigation by the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) into her citizenship.

The 23-year-old – whose father is Nigerian –  has landed in the African country ahead of the finale, which takes place next weekend.

Chidimma’s Mozambican mother is accused of committing fraud and identity theft when registering her birth in South Africa in 2001.

CHIDIMMA HINTS AT INVESTIGATION INTO HER CITIZENSHIP

Speaking in a radio interview with Rhythm 93.7FM Nigeria, Chidimma Adetshina stated that she was excited to be in the country, where she had been showered with attention and affection by citizens.

She also claimed that she had “manifested” her trip to Nigeria, which she last visited as a toddler.

Hinting at the investigation by Home Affairs, Chidimma said: “My name has brought a lot of awareness into this, but I don’t want it to come in a negative way because as much as I am still fighting for my identity, I am still proudly South African and I am still proudly Nigerian and it’s really OK to be diverse.

I want us to be included, to be celebrated, to be appreciated, loved, and accepted.

“Me just being here, I am not only representing myself, but I am representing a lot of people who see themselves in me and are diverse in their culture.”

WHAT HAS HOME AFFAIRS DISCOVERED THUS FAR?

Here is what we know so far about the progress in the DHA  investigation into Chidimma Adetshina’s parents.

  • Home Affairs has identified officials who were involved in the fraudulent registration of Chidimma’s birth in 2001. One of them has since passed on. The others are under investigation.
  • The woman whose identity was allegedly stolen by Chidimma’s mother was registered by her own mother in Tshwane in 1982.
  • In 1995, she applied for her ID. However, she discovered that it had been issued at a Johannesburg branch, which she had not visited.
  • In 2001, the woman also gave birth to a child. When attempting to register the child’s birth, she discovered that a child was already registered under her ID number. That child was registered as Chidimma Vanessa Onwe Adetshina.
  • Home Affairs has since visited both Chidimma’s mother and the woman whose identity was allegedly stolen.
  • Chidimma’s mother was issued with a Promotion of Administrative Justice Act letter.  How she responds to it will determine the way forward with regard to prosecution.
  • Chidimma’s father was also allegedly involved in the fraudulent registration of her birth. It’s unclear if either he or Chidimma’s mother had valid documentation to be in South Africa.
  • Chidimma’s ID and passport have not cancelled her identification pending the investigation; however, she could have travel restrictions imposed in the future.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

According to an investigation by the DHA, they are pursuing legal advice in the investigation against Chidimma’s parents. This involves the assistance of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks).

The DHA has revealed that it has since issued Chidimma’s parents with a Promotion of Administrative Justice Act letter.

The investigation into verifying both Chidimma’s parents’ citizenship status continues. If their permanent residency or citizenship is deemed fraudulent, then this may render them illegal foreign nationals.

With an illustrious career spanning years, she has quickly become one of the most sought-after actresses from South Africa.

NOMZAMO MBATHA WINS INTERNATIONAL AWARD FOR SHAKA ILEMBE

Like those before her, she has undoubtedly capped her career with accolades.

However, the actress will be heading back home with a bit of extra weight in her luggage—a gold statue after winning ‘Best African Actress’ at the 2024 Septimius Awards.

The annual awards were held in Tuschinski, Amsterdam, earlier this week.

Nomzamo Mbatha outshined fellow South African actresses Enhle Mbali and Nqobile Khumalo, who were also nominated in the category.

The 34-year-old actress also faced competition from Osas Ighodaro, Uche Montana, Menna Shalabi, Fatma Nasser, and Nancy Isime.

Nomzamo Mbatha took it to social media to celebrate her big win. She posted on Instagram, “Coming back home with a little extra weight in my luggage. God’s dream for my life is pretty cool to witness.

“Thankful for the spirit of surrender and hard work: to trust in the journey and believe in the kept promises.”

However, she also thanked the entire cast and crew of Mzansi Magic’s Shaka iLembe for the big win.

Nomzamo Mbatha added, “You make me better… and the hundreds of our background actors who help us create magic on screen…

“Thank you to EVERY SINGLE PERSON who has watched our show @shakailembe_mzansi and encouraged us/me along the way.”

The award is the latest piece in her cabinet. Earlier this year, she won the Forbes Women Africa Entertainer Award in March.

In April, Nomzamo Mbatha won ‘Best International Act for an Artist Representing South Africa’ at the inaugural Cultural and Creative Industries Awards.

CAREER

She had her on-screen debut in 2013 when she starred in Isibaya. No doubt she nailed the on-screen character of Thandeka Zungu with perfection until 2020.

However, some television series she has starred in include Umlilo, Holiday Swap and Shaka iLembe.

Nomzamo Mbatha has starred in several big-budget films, including Coming 2 America and Assassin.

Surprisingly, the actress is also part of the star-studded cast of Untitled Eighth Mission: Impossible, which is set to be released in 2025.

‘The Mommy Club: Sugar and Spice’: Q&A with Lenore Goss-Matjie https://www.thesouthafrican.com/lifestyle/celeb-news/local-celebs/the-mommy-club-sugar-and-spice-lenore-goss-matjie/ Fri, 23 Aug 2024 17:55:37 +0000 https://www.thesouthafrican.com/?p=2162918 Lenore Goss-Matjie answered some burning questions surrounding new reality series The Mommy Club: Sugar and Spice. The reality series stars nine affluent Indian mothers from Durban, and their colourful extended families who assist them in running their empires and raising their heirs.

Take a look at the moms here.

Q&A WITH LENORE GOSS-MATJIE

Why did you join The Mommy Club?

I joined The Mommy Club: Sugar & Spice because it showcases progressive women, their children, family life and culture. It gave me the opportunity to showcase my journey as a devoted mother, wife and a successful entrepreneur.

Another reason it spoke to me is because It highlighted the challenges and joys of managing to balance motherhood and the demands of business with family life, despite me facing personal challenges like managing a chronic health condition. It also created an opportunity for me to meet other mothers and to create new experiences with them.

How do you incorporate your Zulu, Xhosa, Scottish and Indian culture?

As a person of mixed heritage, I bring a unique perspective and experience to the show’s dynamic. My maternal grandparents are Zulu and Indian, and my paternal grandparents are of Xhosa and Scottish heritage. My heritage allows me to bridge different cultures and identities, offering a rich tapestry of traditions, values and viewpoints.

This diversity enriches discussions and interactions, creating a deeper understanding and appreciation among the ladies. As a coloured woman, my mixed heritage and cultures also serve as a strength that enables me to contribute authentically to conversations about identity, diversity, respect and inclusion on the show.

What has been the toughest thing about being on a reality show?

The toughest part of being on a reality show for me was managing my fibromyalgia flare-ups during filming. Despite the challenges, I pulled through because I am a warrior.

The second was dealing with people’s ignorance with regards to “isms”, such as ageism and stereotypes, which was sometimes emotionally draining, but I schooled them.

The PhD (“pull her down”) syndrome displayed by some cast members was also sad to witness and experience.

What was the most fun part about being on a reality show?

I enjoyed meeting and bonding with new ladies and sharing new experiences with them; sharing our lives with the audience and creating unforgettable and enjoyable experiences.

I also got to share this amazing experience with my children and created life-long memories.

How much of yourself and your family do we see in the show?

I share openly and authentically about myself, my family, our experiences and our daily lives. But there are areas where I set boundaries to protect personal and family moments that are more private.

LENORE GOSS-MATJIE ON HER CHRONIC CONDITION

How do you deal with your chronic condition?

My journey as a fibromyalgia sufferer has been both challenging and empowering. Dealing with chronic pain and extreme fatigue on a daily basis for almost two decades has taught me resilience and the importance of self-care. Despite the unpredictability of my condition, which still has no cure, I have refused to let it define or limit me.

Instead, I’ve used it as a catalyst to prioritise my health while pursuing my passions in business, fashion, and advocacy. There are days when my condition is debilitating to the point that I am unable to do even the most basic things.

Some of the other symptoms of my condition are hair loss, thinning hair and skin flare-ups. The most difficult thing about this is that you never know when they are going to strike.

Through my journey living with fibromyalgia, I raise awareness and break stigmas surrounding invisible illnesses.

I show others that, despite health obstacles, it is possible to thrive professionally and personally with determination, support and a positive mindset, and the fact is that it is also okay not to be okay and to seek help.

Is there anything you would like to clarify in the episodes we have seen so far?

Yes, I have never once claimed to be an Indian woman, but I have acknowledged my Indian heritage amongst all my other heritages.

Did you make any real connections with the cast?

I definitely made real connections with some of the cast members, namely Neetasha, Devina and Asharia. Those are my girls and you will have to watch the show to see how everything plays out.

GOOD NEWS: Gayton promises Springboks vs All Blacks game for ‘everyone’ https://www.thesouthafrican.com/lifestyle/celeb-news/local-celebs/springboks-vs-all-blacks-how-to-watch-sabc-gayton-mckenzie-latest/ Fri, 23 Aug 2024 17:36:24 +0000 https://www.thesouthafrican.com/?p=2162905 Minister of Sport, Arts, and Culture Gayton McKenzie has come through on his promise to make the next Springboks game – this time against New Zealand’s All Blacks – accessible for all South Africans to watch.

The Boks will face their biggest rugby rivals in two home ground matches on 31 August and 7 September.

GAYTON MCKENZIE PROMISES SPRINGBOKS VS ALL BLACKS GAME ‘FOR EVERYONE’

Speaking at the Presidential Imbizo in Ekurhuleni on Friday, 23 August, Gayton McKenzie revealed that all South Africans would be able to watch the rugby team’s next match on the SABC channels.

He said: “I’ve got very good news. When the Springbok splay All Blacks, everyone is going to watch the game.”

No other details have been given by the minister.

The next test match will take place on Saturday, 31 August, at 17:00 at Johannesburg’s Emirates Airline Park.

In recent years, sporting fans have missed out on key tournaments involving national sporting teams, including World Cups and the Olympics, as a result of MultiChoice’s exclusive, pay-per-view broadcast rights on the SuperSport channels.

Last month, the the SABC terminated its agreement with SuperSport to air the Boks’s two test matches against Ireland on its platforms.

The public broadcaster revealed that it had paid SuperSport to rebroadcast the test matches on the national platforms. The condition was that this would be done at a delayed time on the same day.

However, conflict arose amid the terms and conditions of a six-month Competition Tribunal that permits eMedia to air the Bok games on their OpenView platforms without compensating the SABC for them.

Gayton told the SABC thereafter that he was in talks with SA’s telecommunications to make his goal for the public broadcaster SABC to bring games of national interest to the people.

He said, “We will sort out this problem. People must watch the Springboks and Bafana Bafana. These are their teams.

He continued: “The Springboks must be shown on SABC. People should watch the national team on the national broadcaster. This team belongs to the people.

“I’m going to fight this thing.”

EXCITING TEST MATCH LINEUP

Meanwhile, the Springboks are back in South Africa for their next leg of test matches.

The four-times winning World Cup Champions will take on their biggest rivals yet, New Zealand’s All Blacks. Here’s a look at the rest of the Springboks test schedule for the remainder of the year.

  • 31 August: SA v New Zealand (Johannesburg,  Emirates Airline Park)
  • 7 September: SA v New Zealand (DHL Stadium, Cape Town)
  • 21 September: SA v Argentina (Estadio Unico Madre Ciudades, Santiago)
  • 28 September: SA v Argentina (Mbombela Stadium, Nelspruit)
  • 10 November: Scotland vs SA (Murrayfield, Edinburgh)
  • 16 November: England vs SA (Twickenham, London)
  • 23 November: Wales vs SA (Principality Stadium, Cardiff)

DO YOU BELIEVE GAYTON MCKENZIE WILL DELIVER ON ALL HIS PROMISES AS MINISTER OF SPORTS, ARTS AND CULTURE?

MPHO POPPS QUESTIONS LASIZWE‘S RELATIONSHIP WITH KHANYI MBAU

The celebrated YouTuber hosted Mpho Popps on his latest instalment, and the episode has since thrust his sister Khanyi Mbau into the top trends.

During their date, Mpho Popps had the opportunity to ask Lasizwe Dambuza about his relationship with Khanyi Mbau.

The two have undoubtedly made headlines with their relationship, from nasty fallouts to priceless moments.

Asked about his relationship with Khanyi Mbau, Lasiswe Dambuza revealed that the two share the same father.

However, Mpho Popps jokingly said Khanyi Mbau was white, and the two laughed it off.

After all, Mzansi was convinced that Mpho Popps was aware of their relationship but just wanted to poke fun at Lasizwe Dambuza.

The 39-year-old media personality is sister to Lasizwe Dambuza. She was born on 15 October 1984. Khanyi Mbau had her shot to fame in 2004 when she starred in Muvhango.

Just like his Khanyi Mbau, Lasizwe Dambuza had his shot at fame at a younger age and has been winning big—however, the two often hogged headlines due to their strained relationship.

Lasizwe Dambuza once took it to social media to reveal that he was no longer close to Khanyi Mbau because of work demands.

After all, Mpho Popps’ remarks quickly implicated Khanyi Mbau’s complexion in the mix.

Khanyi Mbau has been a vocal supporter of skin-lightening products and has had them over the years. She once revealed that being light made her stand above the rest.

Khanyi Mbau once said, “I look better when I’m lighter.” Her dream is to strive and look like a “doll.”

She once said a celebrity must ‘sell vanity.’ Khanyi Mbau has had a string of cosmetic procedures, which also include:

  • Fillers – These are usually done to change nose and jaw profiles.
  • Eyebrow lift – Removing hair from her head to fill her eyebrows.

Tweeting behind bars? Musa Khawula laughs off his death hoax https://www.thesouthafrican.com/lifestyle/celeb-news/local-celebs/musa-khawula-laughs-off-his-death-hoax/ Fri, 23 Aug 2024 11:41:40 +0000 https://www.thesouthafrican.com/?p=2162668 Earlier this week, controversial blogger Musa Khawula trended online after it was alleged that he was dead.

No doubt, the popular celebrity blogger is the latest victim of a death hoax.

CORRECTIONAL SERVICES: ‘MUSA KHAWULA IS ALIVE AND WELL’

The news of Musa Khawula’s death hoax first made rounds on X, formerly Twitter, after popular user @mandisi.tshinga’s post claimed that the controversial blogger was dead.

The now viral X post reads, “Rest in peace, Musa Khawula. Your life was a captivating spectacle filled with drama and controversy that kept everyone talking.

“Even if it wasn’t always for the right reasons. You had a unique talent for stirring the pot and making headlines.”

Against the post, many celebrities and fans took to social media to question the sad news, while others said they would only believe the news from a credible source.

On-air host and media personality Somizi Mhlongo was one of the celebrities who reacted to Musa Khawula’s death hoax.

He took it to Instagram and jokingly said he would not believe the news until the blogger confirmed.

The award-winning star posted, “I’m not believing until he himself announces that he has died or if I go to the funeral lol.”

However, against the trends, Correctional Services Spokesperson Singabakho Nxumalo confirmed that Musa Khawula was alive but behind bars.

Speaking to the media, Nxumalo said, “Musa Khawula is alive and well in our correctional facility. He is still serving his 60 days sentence.”

Musa Khawula is serving his sentence for failing to appear in Gauteng court.

Confirmed reports have it that Musa Khawula was arrested in the Vredenburg magistrate’s court on 9 July during his appearance on a murder charge.

COULD THIS BE THE REASON WHY HE IS BEHIND BARS?

Little is known about the court case that led to his arrest. However, the rumour mill has it that Musa Khawula’s arrest is reportedly linked to his court woes with Fikile Mbalula’s wife.

Musa Khawula once took to X to allege that Nozuko Mbalula and Michelle Perrow paid a bribe to secure government tenders worth R150 million.

However, earlier this year, in May, Fikile Mbalula shared some court documents that revealed that Khawula was ordered to pay damages to the applicants.

The ANC secretary general also revealed that Musa Khawula was ordered to delete the defamatory statements on his X account, which has over 125 000 followers.

MUSA KHAWULA RUBBISHES VIRAL DEATH HOAX

However, on Thursday, 22 August, Musa Khawula took to X to laugh off news of his death despite being behind bars. Musa Khawula posted, “Presume dead.”

No doubt his post has since gained thousands of comments and reactions since it dropped. Fans were quick to flood his comments section with their two cents.
