‘Tears Run Dry’: AKA teases snippet of song dedicated to Nelli [listen]
After receiving backlash for posting Travis Scott’s ‘Piss On Your Grave’ song on his Instagram Story, AKA teased an emotional song written for his late fiancée.
Rapper Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, popularly known as AKA, took to social media to share a snippet of a new song titled Tears Run Dry which Tweeps believe is dedicated to his late fiancée, Anele “Nelli” Tembe.
The snippet was posted on the rapper’s Instagram story during the early hours of Saturday 12 June.
AKA BACKTRACKING ON ‘PISS ON YOUR GRAVE’?
This emotional song follows the backlash AKA received after he used Travis Scott’s Piss On Your Grave on his Instagram story last weekend which many thought was disrespectful as he had just lost his fiancée Nelli Tembe on 11 April when she plunged to her death from the 10th floor of the Pepperclub Hotel in Cape Town.
In the Instagram Story, AKA is seen smoking and dancing in his personal return to social media after taking time off from the public eye to mourn Tembe’s death. At the time, he handed over his social media accounts to his public relations team to handle.
AKA took back control of his social media last week by going on a posting spree with pictures of himself and his new puppy named King Louie the 13th Forbes, nicknamed Mr Lou.
Mr Lou was set up with his own Instagram account which racked up more than 2 500 followers in just over a week.
‘TEARS RUN DRY’ FOR NELLI
The snippet of the song shared on AKA’s Instagram Story is titled Tears Run Dry where the rapper talks about how hard it is for him to live without his beloved and therefore it is safe to assume that the song is dedicated to Tembe.
AKA’s teaser of new music comes after his “top fan” and promoter Rubu Thulisa tweeted that AKA is back in the studio and Mpumalanga-born artist Oscar Mbo hinted that a collaboration was in the works.
Have a look at the lyrics that have been teased:
“First thing on my mind/When I wake up. I cannot feel sunshine with you not waking up by my side. Nothing else can replace us. Try to break down and cry, but all my tears run dry,” the teaser begins with.
