Taxtopia is a refreshing and surprisingly funny non-fiction book by the mysterious writer known as ‘The Rebel Accountant’. The author takes readers into the oftentimes confusing and scary world of tax systems with light-hearted and easy-to-follow writing.

This is not a boring and bland trek through complex tax laws, but is a thorough exploration of the true atrocities of tax loopholes which make the rich richer and the poor poorer.

Taxtopia opens with the quote: “Everyone needs to read a book about tax, but no one wants to” which perfectly summarizes the majority of people’s response to the topic but stresses the importance of knowledge around tax systems.

THE DARK WORLD OF TAX CRIMES LAID BARE IN NEW RELEASE

If you were anything like me, tax laws was a scary and confusing topic which I knew that some people out there understand but I was not really one of them. However, the Rebel Accountant has explained the complex inner workings of tax and tax laws in a way that every person can and should understand.

My favorite element of this book was not just that it made a complicated topic understandable, but it was also surprisingly funny. The hilarious moments of the writing take the edge off of the serious and sometimes disheartening topic of tax systems and tax crimes.

“We have a situation where people who don’t understand tax rules vote for politicians who don’t understand tax rules who then come up with new tax rules. No wonder it’s a mess”.

‘TAXTOPIA’: SYNOPSIS

In Taxtopia, a rogue accountant breaks ranks to share his journey from clueless naïf to skilled tax consultant -and in doing so blows the lid on the murky world of making the tax burdens of the ultra-wealthy disappear.

In the topsy-turvy world of tax avoidance, you can get richer by buying a yacht, the world’s biggest exporter of coffee is Switzerland, and billionaires like Jeff Bezos, Donald Trump and the Duke of Westminster often pay less tax than you do.

Written with sharp wit and brimming with insider secrets, the anonymous author shows us that not only does the global tax system encourage dubious practices which favour the rich, but that it was specifically founded with that in mind.

If you suspect that tax is a rigged game, a con, designed to fleece the little guy, you are about to find out just how shockingly true that really is.
