‘I can cry and whoop your a** at the same time’ – Adesanya tells Dricus
It’s personal!!! The fight between Israel Adesanya and Dricus Du Plessis is expected to produce fireworks.
It’s time for action. UFC middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis and Israel Adesanya will finally battle it out at RAC Arena in Perth, Australia on Sunday.
The highly anticipated match is set for five rounds and will once and for all end the debate on who is the true ‘African champion’. During Friday’s pre-fight press conference, the two fighters clashed ahead of their UFC middleweight championship match. Du Plessis seemed to have said something that caused Izzy to burst into tears.
Israel Adesanya cried in front of Dricus
“He touched a subject there, because I do this for my family,” a tearful Adesanya said.
“I do this for the people I love, and I will fight for you forever, I swear to God. Watch this. Look, I am a f**king human being, I am a man. I can cry and whoop your ass at the same time.
“First time I fought here (in Perth), (UFC) 221, that was February 2018. That was me making me dreams come true. Sunday, I’m going to f**king kill your dreams, bitch. I’m going to f**king kill your dreams.”
The fight between Israel Adesanya and Dricus Du Plessis is scheduled for 04:00(SA) on Sunday.
Last year, there was supposed to be a match between Du Plessis and Adesanya, the reigning champion at the time. Their rivalry heated up due to Du Plessis‘ comment from early last year about wanting to be the first “real African champion,” which didn’t sit well with Adesanya.
Izzy is of Nigerian descent and resides in New Zealand. Dricus has said in the past that Adesanya can’t rate himself as an African champion if he doesn’t live or train in Africa.
Who will win Sunday’s fight? Izzy or DDP?
