Bafana Bafana will soon be back in action, having been drawn in a Group K alongside Uganda, Congo and South Sudan, with their qualifiers campaign beginning on 6 September.

Ahead of these highly-anticipated fixtures, Hugo Broos has revealed his latest squad, which includes three Kaizer Chiefs players: Bruce Bvuma, Rushwin Dortley and Given Msimango.

Here is the full Bafana preliminary squad:

All to play for

The first Afcon qualifier will be played at Orlando Stadium in Soweto, Johannesburg, and kick off is at 18:00 on Friday, 06 September.

SAFA President Dr Danny Jordaan urged supporters to come out in numbers and support Bafana in the same way they have shown in the last few months.

“Ticket sales are now open, please come out in numbers and make it count in the stands. We want to continue the momentum and the amazing scenes we saw in Bloemfontein when Bafana faced Zimbabwe in June. We want to see the same at Orlando Stadium,” said Dr Jordaan.

After facing Uganda at Orlando Stadium, Broos’ charges will travel to South Sudan to play their second match in the group on Tuesday, 10 September 2024.

The two top finishers will qualify for the tournament to be hosted in Morocco from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026.

South Africa have climbed up the latest FIFA rankings, moving from 59th to 57th in the world, having recorded a 3-1 win over Zimbabwe and a 1-1 draw away to Nigeria in their recent 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
